Brandon Moreno has had one of the weirder career trajectories in most recent history. During TUF 24, Moreno was the 16-seed during a tournament to determine who would be the next challenger to UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson. Moreno showed heart in the first round of the tournament but was ousted by top seed Alexandre Pantoja. Tim Elliott would go on to win the tournament and fall to DJ, all the while Moreno was racking up big wins over ranked opponents.
So now Moreno has gone from tournament afterthought to contender in the Flyweight division. And with a main event spot against Sergio Pettis, Moreno can only strengthen his resume for a title shot.
