ZAGREB, Croatia – The event will be the first that the organization has hosted in Croatia and it will be headlined with a heavyweight bout between Ben Rothwell and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos.
Dos Santos is trying to get back in the heavyweight title picture as he has split his last six fights and is in need to get back into the swing of things. Two of those losses are to his arch nemesis and two time heavyweight champion
Cain Velasquez and his other was a shocking second round KO from Alistair Overeem. A win against Rothwell is mandatory if he expects to vault himself back in the main event picture long term.
Ben Rothwell is on the roll of his life. He is a wily veteran of 45 MMA fights, with an impressive 39 – 6 record, but perhaps has never been on the hot streak he is currently. He is 5-0 in his last five fights with dominant wins over some of the biggest names in the history of the sport. He has toppled the likes of Alistar Overeem, Josh Barnett, Brandon Vera and others.
I truly believe Junior dos Santos is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, and will bounce back from his recent setback with a big knockout win over the game Rothwell.
