MMA: Breaking Down The UFC Poland Fight Card

This Saturday Night the UFC travels to Poland at Ergo Arena in Gdańsk, Poland.  This event will be the first that the UFC has hosted in Gdańsk and the second in Poland.  It is an out of the ordinary fight venue, but one that will pack the fans in to see the headliner of Donald Cerrone vs Darren Till.

A lot of casual fight fans may not even know who Darren Till is, but they will after this weekend as the young man is unbeaten at 15-0-1 in his pro career, and for good reason!  He has 9 knockouts in those wins and has had a knack of taking his opponents into deep water and then drowning them late.

Till has an interesting background not many other fighters do, as he has already won the fight of his life just to stay alive.  Till was involved in a fight at a party in August 2012 and was stabbed twice in the back. It was a near death experience as the knife cut deep into his body, missing his main artery by an inch.  He is lucky to be alive, yet one of the top fighters in the UFC Welterweight division.

Donald Cerrone is cut from the same never say die attitude and it shows not only in his record, but his overall willingness to take fights against anyone at any time. Cerrone used an 8-fight win streak from 2013-215 to earn a shot at then Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos.  A bout he lost in brutal fashion quickly.

After the defeat he began a successful run at Welterweight which saw him rattle off 4 straight wins and 2 Performance of the Night awards.  Since then, he has once again stumbled with back to back losses at the hands of Jorge Masvidal and Robbie Lawler.  Cerrone is in a must win situation if he wants to remain relevant in the UFC Welterweight Division.
