Midview Captures First Win Of Season over Westlake 42-28

The Westlake Demons tried their best to give a huge homecoming crowd an exciting come from behind win but it just wasn’t to be as they fell to the Midview Middies, 42-28.

The Middies jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead, the first on a short field after a blocked punt and a 92 yard TD pass but before the end of the first, Jacob May hit Dylan Bednar for 2 yards and the quarter ended 14-7 after a Logan Rummel extra point.

A short TD run by Midview with about 5 minutes left in the half gave the Middies the 21-7 halftime lead.

The Demons came out in the third quarter determined and another May to Bednar, 10 yard TD pass and Rummel extra point pulled them to within a TD with 8:22 left in the third. The Demon defense then rose to the occasion stopping the high powered Middie offense and a May 10 yard TD scamper tied the game at 21 with 2:50 left in the third.

Midview struck right back on a 74 yard TD pass and took the 28-21 lead as the teams headed to the 4th quarter.

The Demons struck first to tie the game once again as for the third time May found Bednar, this time for a 30 yard TD and again the game was tied, 28-28 with 10:38 left in the game.

The Demons could just not manage to get a critical stop and the Middies tacked on two more TD’s to make the final 42-28.

The Demons were led in rushing by JJ Coleman who tallied 26 carries for 220 yards while Jacob May added 89 yards on the ground.

Through the air, May was 21/39 for 269 yards and 3 TD passes. Bednar with 4 catches for 53 yards and 3 TD’s while Jacob Jablonski had 10 catches for 189 yards.

The Demons outgained the Middies 577 yards to 478 yards.

Leading in tackles for the Demons was Connor Gregory with 5 tackles including 1 for a loss. Tyler Malin and Jorden Taylor chipped in 4 tackles each while Joe Paul had 3 total tackles including 2 for loss and a sack.

The Demons take to the road next Friday night as they will travel to winless Lakewood for a 7 pm start.
