Week four in high school football was a solid one in the area, and tonight conference play continues for most teams around Northeast Ohio, and there’s a number of great matchups in and around the area, and NEO Sports Insiders will be at many of them!

NEO Sports Insiders will be at NINE area games – and our broadcast partner AM 930 WEOL will be live broadcasting three games – make sure to listen as well as you will hear our reporters on during halftime and on the postgame scoreboard show!

The lead game on WEOL tonight will be Elyria and Brunswick in a Greater Cleveland Conference showdown. The Pioneers enter this Friday’s match up after a 52-14 loss to a 4-0 Medina team a week ago. The one shinning spot for Elyria in their opening game of GCC play was the return of senior running back Chris Atkinson. Though limited to just 12 touches, the two time 1,000 yard rusher went off for 83 yards. On Friday night, Atkinson will look to be a larger part of the Pioneers game. The Blue Devils enter the night coming off a 53-21 conference loss to 3-1 Solon. In the loss, the Blue Devils defense gave up 285 yards and 40 points in the first half alone. Brunswick will look to right the ship Friday night with a much stronger defensive game. Pregame begins at 6:30pm.

Columbia and Black River do battle in the second game tonight on AM 930 WEOL. The Raiders bounced back nicely from a week 3 loss with a 42-7 win over Brookside last week. Columbia’s passing game was strong, but their ground game was dominant. Sophomore back Brandon Coleman rushed for 214 yards and four touchdowns in the win, Howerver, Black River will be no cake walk. The 3-1 Pirates are coming off of a 62-27 win over Brooklyn in week four. In the affair quarterback Mike Hazlett threw for three touchdowns. Pregame begins at 6:30pm.

The third game tonight on WEOL will be Medina at Strongsville. The the unblemished Bee’s have one of the most dangerous offenses in Northeast Ohio stinging opponents on the average for 55 points a game. Their defense has been nearly as impressive allowing just over seven points a game. Wins haven’t come easy for the Mustangs in 2016 as they enter Friday night with a 1-3 record. Last week Strongsville came out on the wrong side of a 26-22 final against Shaker Heights. Despite their losses, the Mustangs are still a team that can make a big splash in the Greater Cleveland Conference. A win for the Mustangs Friday would certainly make a statement to the rest of the league. Pregame begins Friday night at 6:30pm on WEOL.com Stream 3.
