Jones facing two year ban

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – More news has now broke on the Jon Jones suspension situation. Despite claiming innocence, it does not look good for the former champ.

Jones tested positive for clomiphene and traces of letrozole in an out-of-competition sample provided on June 16. This caused him to be pulled from the main event of the UFC 200 card in Vegas on July 9th.
Clomiphene is listed as an anti-estrogenic substance on the banned list and letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor.

Basically, it is used to try an cover up for steroid use and enlarged male breasts and other dead give aways.
Jones will have his day in court as The Nevada district attorney’s office informed the NSAC of a potential hearing date around September of October.

If found guilty, the news wont be pleasant for Jones as he is facing a two-year ban under the policies of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s drug program and the United States Anti-Doping Agency, which was responsible for the June 16 test, but is also subject to the NSAC’s jurisdiction.

Nevada Deputy Attorney General Caroline Bateman, in asking for an extension of Jones’ temporary suspension until such time as he could be brought in for a full disciplinary hearing, named Hydroxy Clomiphene (an anti-estrogenic agent) and Letrozole metabolite (an aromatase inhibitor) as the two substances Jones tested positive for in his June 16 out-of-competition drug screen.

Jones’ attorney, Howard Jacobs, did not object to any of the details laid out by Bateman, and did not object to extending Jones’ suspension.

As such, the commission voted unanimously to continue Jones’ suspension until he has a full disciplinary hearing. The hearing is expected to take place at either the September or October commission meeting.

Long story short, it will be a long while before we ever see Jones in the cage again…..
