Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

Betting Lines 11/7

NCAAF:

Penn St vs. Northwestern
Northwestern -2.5
It’s a battle of the hot vs. cold here. Northwestern squeaked one out last week over Nebraska and lost the previous two against Michigan and Iowa. They do have quality wins over Duke and Stanford early in the year though. Penn St comes in after shutting out Illinois last week and putting up a season high 39. I’m still going with Northwestern. They are a talented team that could beat a Penn St team that’s record is more appealing than their play.

Texas Tech vs. West Virginia
Texas Tech +8.5
West Virginia has lost four in a row but all have come against ranked teams. Texas Tech also has 4 losses to ranked teams but came ever so close to beating TCU. Texas Tech has the ability to score points quickly which is why I like them in this game. Give me an 8.5 point spread and I’m for sure taking them.

NC State vs. Boston College
NC State -4
Boston College can’t score points. Since week two they have scored 0, 17, 7, 0, 17, 14 and 10. That is miserable. NC State played well enough against Clemson last week that I feel confident they can put up more points than what Boston College has been.

Iowa vs. Indiana
Iowa -7
Iowa is really impressive this year and have found their way into the top ten. Indiana on the other hand has faltered hard of late including a loss to Rutgers among their four straight losses. Iowa has beaten both Big Ten foes in Wisconsin and Northwestern on the road already this year. Indiana should pose much less of a threat than that.

Wisconsin vs. Maryland

Wisconsin -11.5
In my mind it’s a battle between Rutgers and Maryland for the worst team in the Big Ten. Wisconsin beat Rutgers by 38 last week. They only need a third of that to cover the spread this week.

Michigan St vs Nebraska

Michigan St -6
I love the Big Ten spreads this week and Michigan St comes into this one undefeated. Nebraska is 3-6 including Big Ten losses to Illinois and Purdue. I’m baffled as to how this spread is only six points. You can easily pick Michigan St here.

Utah vs. Washington
Utah +2
I feel bad for Utah. Previously they were ranked third and were underdogs to a 0.500 team and now they are 12th and underdogs to another 0.500 team. Utah has beat Michigan, Cal, and Oregon this year and got their way up to number three earlier in the season. Washington has lost to Cal and Oregon as well as Boise St and Stanford. The only difference is Washington beat the only team that beat Utah, USC. Washington put an absolute beat down on Arizona last week which is probably why Utah is underdogs but I like going with the better team in Utah.

Minnesota vs. Ohio St
Minnesota +24
Ohio St really needs to get a big win after coming in third in the college football playoff rankings. JT Barrett will miss this game after getting busted for an OVI last week. Cardale has struggled on the year and they are playing a Minnesota team that is fighting hard for their ex-coach who retired due to his battle with epilepsy. They handed a victory to Michigan at the end of the game but I think they will be doing their best to upset the Buckeyes.
