Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

NFL:

ARI vs. CLE

ARI -7

The Browns lost by 18 last week to the third best team in the NFC West. This week they now have to play the best team. We also saw what happens when the Browns offense got to face a really good defense. It wasn’t pretty. They get another one this week. It could be another low output game for Cleveland.

DET vs. KC

DET +4

A lot of people have been really down on Detroit this year. I still feel their 1-6 record doesn’t justify the team though. They have had a really tough schedule so far. However they get a matchup this week that should really favor them. The Lions can’t run the ball for anything but they have been able to throw it. The Texans are the only team that allows more passing TDs than Kansas City. Detroit also struggles against the run and with no Jamaal Charles this is another matchup favoring Detroit. I like the Lions to win this week.

CIN vs. PIT

CIN Even

This is a tough call but should be among the week’s most entertaining games. The undefeated Bengals go to Pittsburgh with the return of Roethlisberger. The reason I like Cincinnati in the game is because of their offense. They have put up at least 24 points in every game and the Steelers are not a good defensive team this year when compared to years past. I think the Bengals squeeze out one more to stay alive.

SEA vs. DAL

SEA -7

The only reason I like Seattle for this one is because of their defense. The Cowboys have no backup QB as we have seen since Romo went down. They might get more of a benefit from “Arts and Crafts Tony Romo” than Weeden or Cassel. I expect at least one defensive touchdown and multiple turnovers forced from Seattle. The Seahawks offense isn’t great but should be good enough to get the job done on their side too.

GB vs. DEN

GB -2.5

Neither one of these teams are the high powered offenses that we got so used to. Yes Aaron Rodgers is still the best QB in the league right now but they are not racking up points like they used to. Plus Lacy has been a bust this year. Manning’s arm looks like a complete noodle now and he can’t get anything behind any of his throws. His defense won’t be able to bail him out this week.

IND vs. CAR

IND +7.5

I know the Colts have looked like crap this year but I like them this week. Carolina eventually has to break, right? Carolina has a great defense but Luck can still make plays. They lost last week but when we thought they were dead Luck made some big plays to Hilton to make a game out of it at least. Carolina has been fine on offense but they are nothing special. I think Luck will get lucky for Halloween this year.
