Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

NCAAF:

Texas vs. Iowa St

Texas -5.5

Texas has looked like a completely different team that last couple weeks with wins over Oklahoma and Kansas St. They play the second worst team in the Big 12 in Iowa St. who should have gotten their only conference win for the whole season over Kansas already.

San Diego St vs Colorado St

San Diego St -3

San Diego St got off to a horrible start to the year going 1-3 before winning their last four. They demolished Utah St last week, a team who took down undefeated Boise St the week before. I like the Aztecs if they only have to win by 3.

Clemson vs. NC State

Clemson -10.5

Clemson handed Miami its worst loss ever last week. NC State is 5-2 and has yet to play a team anywhere near as talented as Clemson. With a lot of undefeated teams still remaining Clemson has to show its worth to be included in the playoffs. Another blowout victory here would do that.

Central Michigan vs. Akron

Central Michigan -3

Central has one of the best passing attacks in the country this year. They also will come into this contest 3-1 in the MAC. They are among the better teams in the MAC and if they want to remain in the competition in the stacked MAC West they need to win this game. Akron isn’t a bad team but they should be beatable.

Syracuse vs. Florida St

Syracuse +19.5

This pick is more from Florida State’s struggles this year. Since opening ACC play, the Seminoles have scored 30 or more points once in five tries. Although Syracuse has dropped four straight they have had some close ones with other good teams including LSU and Pitt. I like Syracuse to keep it close again.

Air Force vs. Hawaii

Air Force -7

Air Force runs that triple option well and is third in the country in rushing yards per game. Hawaii has struggled to score this year being shutout in three of its nine games. With the option attack the game will go quick and Air Force should dominate time of possession. Air Force will run the clock out on Hawaii.

Tulsa vs. SMU

Tulsa -2.5

Tulsa’s four losses on the year have come to Oklahoma, Houston, ECU, and Memphis. Those are not bad losses at all. They are able to score points and should beat a one win SMU team this week.

USC vs. Cal

USC -5.5

Many people wondered how a 3-3 USC could be favorites over the third ranked Utes last week. Well USC came out and proved why. This is a game that they shouldn’t take lightly however as Cal has possibly the number one ranked quarterback prospect in the country this year. However, I don’t think Cal has enough talent on the rest of the team to beat an improving USC team.
