Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

College Football Betting Lines Week 3

Miami FL vs. Appalachian State
Miami FL -3.5

I think Appalachian State is getting a little overhyped after their close loss to Tennessee week one. Yes the Mountaineers are certainly capable of winning this one especially at home but people aren’t giving Miami enough credit for how good they look. Brad Kaaya is in the running for the first overall pick in next year’s draft at QB and the running game is averaging 8.7 yards per rush. I’m a firm believer in this Miami team.

Western Kentucky vs. Miami OH
Western Kentucky -17.5

Miami OH is the Miami team I am not sold on. They have been the bottom of the MAC for some time and lost to a FCS opponent last week. Meanwhile Western Kentucky has been one of the better small schools since joining the FBS and lost last week to Alabama by less than what USC did. They should roll Miami.

San Diego State vs. Northern Illinois
Over 50

San Diego State came into the season as a team picked to possibly run the tables as a dark horse team outside the power five. Northern Illinois was picked as a team to compete in the tough MAC West. So far they have been opposite seasons. San Diego State is still undefeated and Northern Illinois is 0-2 after losing to Wyoming and USF. Both of these teams are certainly capable of scoring points so having this line at only 50 should be free money.

Texas A&M vs. Auburn
Texas A&M +3.5

Auburn has looked impressive this year. They had a close loss to Clemson who has now proved to be underwhelming but then they also blew out Arkansas State who is one of the toughest non-power school teams to play. Texas A&M also handled their business against UCLA and Prairie View A&M. That means it should be an interesting close game between the two but Trevor Knight is why I’ll pick the Aggies.

Texas State vs. Arkansas
Over 62

Texas State allowed over 50 points in its first game this season while also scoring over 50. Arkansas has the capability of putting up points although they only scored 41 against TCU. Arkansas tends to let teams stay in games so if this goes into the 30s and 40s as Arkansas is favored by 31, the over is very likely.

Ohio State vs. Oklahoma
Ohio State -1.5

Oklahoma struggles playing in big games for whatever reason. When the stage is bright they tend to choke. JT Barrett will be the reason for the Buckeyes win. He is already putting himself in the Heisman running and a big time road win at Oklahoma to knock them out of playoff contention will add to it. The defenses aren’t great but Ohio State has a better chance with their offense behind Barrett.

Buffalo vs. Nevada
Nevada -11.5

Buffalo lost their only game of the season to Albany. Yes Albany. Now go travel half way across the United States to play a game and the advantage is set for Nevada. Nevada hasn’t had a great start either only beating Cal Poly by three week one but they are the much better team in this one.
