Indians Place Gomes on DL; Call Up Perez Who Starts Tonight Vs KC

The Indians made it official, placing catcher Yan Gomes on the 15-day disabled list with a separated right shoulder, calling up catcher Roberto Perez, who has played in just four games this season.

Perez is in the lineup tonight as the Indians start a series in Kansas City against the Royals, he will hit 9th in the lineup. During his rehab, Perez hit .313 (5-16, 8BB) with a double, 3 RBI and 5 runs scored in 9 games for the Rookie AZL Indians, A Lake County and AAA Columbus.

The catcher spot isn’t the only move the team made, they also made a pen move, as the club called up pitcher Kyle Crockett, who has made 11 relief appearances for the team this year.

With Crockett up, the team sent down Cody Anderson to AAA Columbus. Anderson had just come up to the team yesterday when the club placed Tommy Hunter on the 15-day DL with a non-baseball related injury, retroactive to July 10th.
