Indians Pitchers and Catchers Report to Spring Training, Promo Schedule Out Wednesday

Since the final out of game three of the ALDS against the Houston Astros, Indians fans have been waiting in anticipation for today – the day when pitchers and catcher report to spring training in Goodyear, Arizona.

The team has had a tough offseason by just about every standard set forth by the fans and media, with about the only saving grace being that the team didn’t end up trading one of their two top starters, Corey Kluber or Trevor Bauer.

The two will be on hand in Goodyear, with Bauer awaiting the results of his arbitration hearing last week to see how much money he is going to get this year from the Indians.

As for Kluber, he’s been quiet about the non-stop trade rumors that have surrounded him and the team since just about the end of last season.

The team did make a number of moves that didn’t sit well with many fans, including the following:

* Trading catcher Yan Gomes to the Nationals
* Trading slugger Edwin Encarnacion to the Mariners
* Trading young 3B Yandy Diaz to the Rays for Jake Bauers
* Trading slugger Yonder Alonso to the White Sox
* Not being able to bring back popular outfielder Michael Brantley
* Bringing back 1B/DH Carlos Santana
* Losing relief pitchers Cody Allen and Andrew Miller
* Losing OF Lonnie Chisenhall to the Pirates

That about covers it, as the team looks to rebuild while looking to not only win the AL Central for a fourth year, but also get further than the ALDS for the first time since they reached the World Series in 2016.

There will be plenty of questions about this team as things get underway in Goodyear, but for now, the first interesting thing that will come out of the teams’ spring training is the mindset of Kluber and Bauer as they return to the team.

On another, much happier note, the team tweeted out Tuesday that they will be announcing their 2019 Promotional schedule on Wednesday, a highlight of the offseason for fans that love giveaways and planning their trips to the ballpark.
