The Indians announced today that pitcher Cody Anderson had arthroscopic surgery on his elbow Wednesday in Dallas, cleaning up his elbow after he was diagnosed with impingement in the back of the elbow joint.
Anderson was seen at TMI Sports Medicine in Dallas, Texas for an additional opinion from Dr. Keith Meister, who confirmed the diagnosis.
The surgery was performed by Meister, and the team announced Anderson will initiate a throwing program in approximately 8 weeks (early January) and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2017 regular season.
The 26-year-old was 2-5 this past season with a 6.68 ERA. He started nine games for the Indians at the Major League level, and spent part of the season in Columbus and also threw out of the bullpen with the Tribe.
