Indians Make Roster Moves; Ryan Merritt Among Those Optioned to Triple-A Columbus

The Indians march towards opening day in Texas continues, and today the team announced some roster moves.

The team optioned three players to Triple-A, including one of the hero’s of the teams’ ALCS win over the Jays, that being lefty pitcher Ryan Merritt. Lefty pitcher Shawn Morimando and righty pitcher Adam Plutko also were sent to Columbus.

A number of players were reassigned to minor league camp: RHP TRAVIS BANWART, RHP STEVE DELABAR, RHP JOSH MARTIN, LHP CHRIS NARVESON, LHP JAMES RUSSELL, C GUILLERMO QUIROZ, INF RONNY RODRIGUEZ, INF ERIC STAMETS and OF GREG ALLEN.

The Major League Spring Training roster now consists of 43 players, including ten non-roster invitees.
