Indians Get the Upper Hand; Make Deal for Padres Closer Brad Hand

The Indians need for a closer and bullpen help got solved in one fell swoop on Thursday, as the team dealt for Padres closer Brad Hand and fellow reliever Adam Cimber.

The price – prospect Francisco Mejia, who the team had somewhat soured on when he refused to make the move to the outfield from the catcher spot.

Hand is a huge get for the team, a player who can move into the closer role of Cody Allen leaves via free agency after the season.

Cimber is 3-5 with a 3.17 ERA for the Padres.

Hand is 2-4 with 21 saves for the Padres, and better yet is now under Indians control for three plus seasons.
