Indians clinch Central Division, release celebration plans for Sunday

CLEVELAND– The Cleveland Indians topped the Kansas City Royals, 8-4 on Saturday evening.

Just a few hours later, the Minnesota Twins fell to the Toronto Blue Jays, meaning the Cleveland Indians officially clinched the 2017 American League Central Division crown.

Since the Indians game ended hours before the Twins game, the Tribe didn’t get their typical champagne celebration for clinching. Instead, they will pop bottles after tomorrow’s game against Kansas City.

The tentative plans for right now are as follows: The Tribe will raise their Central Division champions flag in center field during the pregame tomorrow. Manager Terry Francona will also address the crowd briefly.

After the game, the team will celebrate in the locker room.
