Indians C Roberto Perez Undergoes Thumb Surgery

Indians catcher Roberto Perez is recovering today from surgery on his thumb, a surgery that should sideline him anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks.

The injury that forced the surgery took place on Saturday when he tagged out Odubel Herrera of the Phillies at the plate in the fifth inning.

Perez appeared in four games this season, and scored two runs and had an RBI. For now Yan Gomes‘ backup will be Chris Gimenez, who homered in the win over the Tigers on Thursday.

Gimenez came back to the Indians from the Rangers for cash on Wednesday.
