Indians Bring Back OF Greg Allen, Send Adam Plutko to AAA Columbus

Not knowing the outcome of what’s going to happen come the trade deadline on Tuesday, the Indians brought up another outfielder on Monday, recalling Greg Allen from AAA Columbus.

To make room for him, the team sent down pitcher Adam Plutko.

This is the fourth time Allen has been up with the big league Tribe, and thus far he’s hitting .209 (29-for-139) with 4 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run and 5 RBI in 45 games during his previous appearances.

With Triple-A Columbus this season, he has hit .289 (44-for-152) with 27 runs, 12 2B, 1 HR and 10 RBI in 41 games while stealing 12 bases.

With Tyler Naquin now on the 10-day DL, the team needed another player who could play centerfield, and for the time being as the Tribe continues to work the phones for a possible deal by Tuesday’s deadline, Allen will fit the bill.
