Girls HS Hoops: Adams 17 Points Helps Westlake Top Avon 58-46 in SWC Action

Led by 17 points by Gina Adams, the Westlake Lady Demons Saturday defeated the Avon Lady Eagles at home 58-46.

The lady Demons move to 9-1 overall on the season, 7-1 in SWC play. Avon falls to 4-6 on the year, 2-5 in conference action.

Abby Carrington helped the cause for the lady Demons with 13 points, and Abby Matalavage put in 11 points. The lady Demons also got nine points from Emma Hall.

Avon failed to have a player reach double-digits, getting nine from leading scorer Elizabeth Flynn. Catie Geiger chipped in eight points, and three lady Eagles had six in defeat.

The game was tight for the first half, as the lady Demons outscored Avon 16-15 in the first quarter, and the game was tied at the half at 25 apiece.

The second half saw Westlake pull away, as they outscored Avon 33-21, winning the third quarter 18-11 and then won the final 12 minutes 15-10.

Avon will be back at home on Wednesday night as they have another SWC matchup as they host the Lakewood Rangers at 7:30pm.

The lady Demons will be on the road on Wednesday as they travel for a SWC game at Midview against the lady Middies.
