FLASHBACK : 2003 WWE SUMMERSLAM

WWE Summerslam 2003 was the first bad version in over 5 years after a great stretch.

From the opening match of the once powerful Dudley Boyz failing to take the WWE tag team title from La Resistance, to a flat finish of HHH cheating to defeat Goldberg in the elimination chamber.
The 2003 version missed on all levels.

The Undertaker, one of the biggest stars on the card, was once again used in a pointless squash match over Albert.

Shane McMahon vs Eric Bischoff was a match between two non competitors that was soley used to get “The Coach” over as an “evil announcer turned bad”
That was about as good as it sounds.

The WWE title match was actually pretty decent, but any match where you have Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE title should be. The only thing that brought down that match was the un-needed interference from Vince McMahon.
It didn’t work and Angle would retain the title anyway.

Perhaps the best match of the night however was between Eddie Guerrero, Chris Beniot, Rhyno and Tajiri. All four men where in their prime, and all four brought it!
Eddie would hang on to win the United States Championship.

WWE would hope to rebound from this clunker with a strong 2004 effort, the only question was, would they?
