Firelands Stays Perfect With 47-0 Drubbing Of Brookside

HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP, OHIO – The Firelands Falcons took their record to 6-0 Friday night, with a 47-0 shutout over the visiting Brookside Cardinals, on Homecoming night. The win also opened PAC Stars division play, in which Firelands is now 1-0.

The Falcons were led on offense by quarterback Michael Bansek, who threw for four touchdowns, while compiling 155 yards, going 8 for 13 through the air. Garrett Tester caught the first touchdown from five yards out, then one of two touchdown passes to Nicholas Denney, the first for 43 yards and the second for 44 yards, with a 5-yard TD strike to Richard Millgard splitting the two Denney scores.

Denney opened the the Firelands scoring barrage with an amazing run of 59 yards, when he went on a sweep to the left side, and as he neared the sideline about 15 yards ahead, he cut back to the right with loads of Falcons blockers waiting to lead him all the way to the endzone. He finished the game with 124 yards on 10 carries, while scoring three touchdowns overall.

Thee Falcons defense held Brookside to 56 total yards in the game, while snagging an interception and four fumbles, with Tyler Bennett returning one for a touchdown.

The loss drops Brookside’s overall record to 1-5, and 0-1 in the PAC Stars Division.
