David Modell, Son of Former Browns Owner Art Modell, Passes Away at 56

Many Browns fans still do and always will harbor ill will about the Modell family, but today the family is grieving over the loss of David Modell, son of former Browns owner Art Modell.

The 56-year-old adopted son of Art (David took the Modell name after Art married Patricia Breslin), died of lung cancer.

David was a former President of the Ravens, and is survived by his wife, Michel, three sons, Arthur Modell, David Modell Jr. and Bertram “Bertie” Modell; three daughters, Breslin Modell, Collier Modell and Aoife “Fee” Modell; and a brother, John Modell.

Modell was a fixture with the Browns, going from being a part of the grounds crew when he was 14 years old, to eventually by his father’s side and helping the Browns move to Baltimore after the 1995 season.

Art passed away in 2012 before the start of the season, while his mother, Patricia Modell, died in 2011.
