Cruiserweight Austin Aries Released from WWE

On Friday evening reports came out that Cruiserweight Austin Aries has been released from the WWE.

Aries’ had his last WWE match on June 4th at Payback against Neville at Payback for the Cruiserweight Championship in which he lost.

Since then Aries has been out of action and dealing with nagging injuries.

According to WrestleZone, Aries had the following to say in an interview on June 8th:

“I’ve got some stuff going on, but just to be fair you could probably say that for a lot of the locker room. It’s kind of part of what we do, I don’t think anyone is ever 100%. So I got a couple things going on and obviously at this point it might be a good time to take a little break which really could consist of two days to just adjust some of those things, try and get my mind and my body right and then come back and figure out what’s gonna be next and what the directions gonna be.”

Austin Aries signed with the WWE in January of 2016.

According to @SliceWrestling on Twitter, Aries asked to be released from WWE because he was unsatisfied as being strictly a Cruiserweight.
