Cody Anderson Set to Return to Indians Rotation on Saturday

CLEVELAND – After a couple rough starts at the Majors and a trip to AAA Columbus, Cody Anderson will be back in the Indians rotation this Saturday against the Royals.

Anderson, who in four starts is 0-1 with a 7.65 ERA this season, has allowed 17 earned runs and 34 hits in 20 innings pitched. He’s also given up four home runs this season, another issue for the Tribe starter.

Tribe manager Terry Francona did see some good things out of the start that Anderson made in AAA Columbus.

“I think the first three innings, he was a little frustrated with his mechanics,” Francona said. “And it seemed like the last two innings he felt much better about where he was. So, hopefully he can take that and continue it into his next game here.

“By that I mean his direction to the plate. He’s been kind of fighting that a little bit, which I think is why so many balls have been elevated. If that’s the case, if he finds his rhythm, we won’t care if he gave up a couple home runs in Triple-A. I think it was probably good for him to pitch in a game where the outcome isn’t going to be on his baseball card and allow him to work on some of those things.”

Anderson was sent to Triple-A back on April 27th when the team brought left reliever Kyle Crockett up for the first time this season.
