BRUNSWICK, Ohio — It was a rainy night in Brunswick as it was senior night for the Blue Devils. Brunswick was hoping to pull an upset. It was a very winnable game and Brunswick had several opportunities to pull off the upset against the Medina Bees. Brunswick and Medina are next door neighbors.

It is a rivalary that has seen better days with both schools. Medina traveled to Brunswick and took care of business. Though they let the Blue Devils hang around. The Bees would defeat the Blue Devils 20-7. Brunswick falls to 1-8 on the season. It was their last home game as they will travel to Strongsville next week. Medina is now 4-5 on the season. They’ll have a chance to be .500 for the year as they will host Solon for the final game of their season.

Game recap:

First half: After a scoreless first quarter,  in the second quarter things started going south for the Blue Devils. Medina would score on a four yard touchdown pass from WR Chris Kelly to QB Ryan Fischer. Medina pulled a WR end round throw to the QB on a back door release. Medina was running the screen plays and slants all night. It allowed the Bees to keep the Brunswick defense off balance. Medina’s Aaron Jensen would pick off Brunswick on the following drive. He would return the football for 71 yards to the house. A pick six put Medina up at the half 13-0.

Second Half: Ryan Fischer would run the ball for two yards on a QB keeper for Medina’s first drive after half. Brunswick was down 20-0 at this point. But they didn’t want to lay down and roll over. They would drive down the field and score on a five yard run from running back Robert Woznicki. Following that run, Brunswick would convert an onside kick. Brunswick failed to move the ball after the recovery.

That has been the story of the Blue Devils as they fell to the Bees 20-7.
