5) Kicker
When things went south with Zane Gonzalez early in the season, Greg Joseph came to the rescue. He was a valiant upgrade at the position, but still not good enough. Truthfully, Joseph could have easily been packing his bags and leaving Berea the same week Hue Jackson did after missing a field goal and an extra point in that Week Eight loss to Pittsburgh. He survived and did a decent job over the second half of the season. There were still a number of misses sprinkled in though as Joseph missed four of his 29 extra point attempts and three of his 20 field goal attempts in 2018 and all his field goal misses came from 40 yards or more. The Browns learned the hard way how inadequate kicking can cost you wins. They’d be wise to upgrade the position.
