Browns Place LB Tank Carder and OL Matt McCants on IR

The Browns announced today they have placed LB Tank Carder (knee) and OL Matt McCants (ankle) on injured reserve and waived DB Justin Currie (ankle) with an injury designation.

Carder has appeared in 77 games with Cleveland since joining the Browns via waivers in 2012. He appeared in all 16 games last year and logged two tackles on defense and four on special teams. Carder was voted as the team’s season-long special teams captain in 2016. He sustained a knee injury against the Giants on Monday night.

McCants joined the Browns as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. He has appeared in 30 career games with three starts. He sustained an ankle injury against the Giants on Monday night.

Currie spent the final four weeks of the 2016 season on the Browns’ practice squad. He sustained an ankle injury against the Giants on Monday night.
