Browns overwhelmed by Texans early, fall 29-13: Five Takeaways

3) Browns Pass Rush; Texans Pass Rush

Okay the headline is a little misleading. Obviously the Texans boast one of the league’s best pass rushes with the likes of JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney lining up opposite of each other. Their defensive line is what the Browns young group aspires to be.

Head-to-head though, the Browns defensive front won the day, accumulating four sacks and seven total quarterback hits. Meanwhile, Mayfield, while pressured at times, stayed relatively clean as he took just one hit and wasn’t sacked at all. Four different players got credit for a sack including defensive tackle Emmanuel Ogbah (1), linebacker Joe Schobert (.5), linebacker Genard Avery and defensive end Myles Garrett (1.5). Garret is up to 11.5 sacks on the season after today, which puts him right in the top three in the NFL.
