Browns John DeFilippo Relieved of His Role as Offensive Coordinator

A day after new Browns coach Hue Jackson said he didn’t plan on having an offensive coordinator, current Browns OC John DeFilippo has been relieved of his duties according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

The coordinator had two years remaining on his deal with the Browns, but with a new coach and a new look to the team, it isn’t a surprise that he’s been let go.

Jackson told Sirius radio Friday that he didn’t see having an OC moving forward, and that he would like to have the chance to call the plays himself.

“Right now in my mind, I don’t really plan on having an offensive coordinator, because I want to reserve that right to call plays,” Jackson said to Solomon Wilcots and Shannon Sharpe on Sirius XM NFL radio.

“That’s something that’s gotten me this job, so it’s something that you’re an expert at. You want to continue to work at that and keep that in your pocket so you can use it to help your team.”
