Berea-Midpark standout Trevor Bycznski commits to Rice University

BEREA, OHIO– Berea-Midpark standout quarterback Trevor Bycznski enters his senior season as one of the top prospects in OHSAA Football.  The 6-foot-5 signal caller is the talk of the SWC as the regular season kicks off in only 33 days.  While the regular season always remains a mystery, where the young man will be throwing touchdown passes next, does not.  Bycznski has committed to Rice University starting in the Fall of 2019.

The future Owl started the bulk of games his sophomore season (2016) and all 10 games his junior season (2017) where he has compiled 5,110 yards while launching 43 touchdown passes and running for 13 more.  He has improved each time out, taking charge of the run-and-gun offense of coach Jon Hunek and the Titans.

Bycznski, who plans on studying sports management while at Rice, commented on why he chose the school and the support around him in the process.

“My motivation was the great school, beautiful campus, the coaching staff has great plans to build up Rice football,” he said. “Both my parents and coach Hunek have been influential in my career at Berea-Midpark and the recruiting process. They pushed me to be the quarterback I am today with training and off-the-field support. I would like to thank my parents, coaches, and teammates who have been with me though the whole process and have worked to get myself and the team better.”

The bulk of the starters from last year’s high-powered offense are due back this season, leaving everyone involved with the SWC to have high expectations for the Titans, including Trevor.

“My expectations for the season with the new defense is to contend for a conference championship,” he said. “Coach Hunek and I have worked since the end of the last season with the little things to take my game to the next level, the biggest aspect we focused on was footwork and speed”

Trevor and the Titans will kick off their Season 5 weeks from this weekend at Strongsville against the Mustangs.
