Berea-Midpark High School Girls Varsity Swimming Defeats Olmsted Falls High School 91-77

The Berea-Midpark girls swimming & diving team opened the season with a victory against Olmsted Falls on Tuesday night at North Olmsted Recreation Department. The Titan girls took down the Bulldogs by winning 8 of the 12 events, with a team score of 91-77.

The girls got off to a fast start with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Abby Calaway, LynnDee Popovich, Mallory Redetzki and Jadyn Zahursky teamed up to take the win with a time of 2:10.49. The 400 Free Relay crew of Lexi Shuller, Calaway, Megan Thai and Popovich were also victorious, posting a time of 4:18.09.

Calaway had an impressive first meet as she debuted as a Titan. The freshman posted the fastest time in the 50 Free (28.40) to win the event, while also claiming first in the 100 Backstroke with her time of 1:10.64.

Seniors Schuller and Popovich combined for four individual victories for the Titans. With a time of 2:25.38, Schuller won the 200 Individual Medley and touched the wall first in the 500 Free, posting a time of 5:40.31. Popovich took first place in the 100 Butterfly (1:09.35) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:19.77).
