Bedford clinches Lake Erie League title with 17-1 win over Warrensville Heights

Bedford, Ohio — The Bedford Bearcats, behind a stellar offensive performance and dominant pitching by senior Jared Weingart, defeated the Warrensville Heights Tigers, 17-1, to clinch the Lake Erie League title for the first time since 1972.

The day before, Bedford stayed alive in the LEL title hunt, avenging an earlier season loss to Cleveland Heights, and defeating the Tigers, 8-3, behind the pitching of Chris Cleveland, who threw 5 1/3 innings and striking out ten batters.

“This is just the beginning.” said Bedford head coach Levi Crozier.

Bedford improves to 16-5 (8-2 Lake Erie League) and hosts Crestwood on Friday night to conclude the regular season.
