Avon Eagles 2017: Unfinished Business

Sheffield Lake, Ohio-  Unbeaten. Top seeded in Division II. State of Ohio #1 seed. It all came crashing down. Hard, bitter, and even harder to swallow, against it’s biggest rival.

That fateful night in November, a 27-26 loss to Avon Lake is now in the rear-view mirror as the Avon Eagles prepare to make another run as one of Northeast Ohio’s top teams in 2017.

The Eagles enter the season extra motivated, led by Head Coach Mike Elder (11th season, 150-43 career record, 100-20 at Avon), and a very fast, terrific, ball hawking defense as well as an equally fast and fine tuned offensive squad.

They will be the alpha males of the very deep, very gifted Southwestern Conference, that produced 5 OHSAA playoff teams last season.

After an opening game match-up in Florida versus Merritt Island in Orlando, Avon returns  to SWC play Sept 1 vs the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs and the game they have been waiting for, the rematch with arch rival Avon Lake at home on Sept 8.

Buckle up folks, 2017 could prove to be the year of the Eagles. Tradition. Motivation. Win Together…… Unfinished Business.
