Browns Re-Sign LB Tank Carder, Make Qualifying Offers to Four Players

BEREA, OHIO – The Browns re-signed LB Tank Carder, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent.

In addition, the team signed DL Jamie Meder and RB Raheem Mostert as exclusive rights free agents and extended qualifying offers to the following restricted free agents: DB Don Jones, OL Austin Pasztor, WR Terrelle Pryor and LB Scott Solomon.

If Jones (seventh), Pryor (third) or Solomon (seventh) signs an offer sheet with another club, the Browns have right of first refusal and would receive draft choice compensation equal to the player’s original draft round if they leave. If Pasztor (undrafted) signs an offer sheet with another club, the Browns would have right of first refusal.

Carder joined the Browns via waivers prior to the start of the 2012 season after being selected by Buffalo in the fifth round of the draft that year. He has appeared in 62 games with two starts.

A stalwart on special teams, Carder has registered 34 career special-teams tackles, blocked a punt for a safety and was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2014. He has added 18 tackles and one pass defensed on defense. Carder appeared in all 16 games last season and recorded 10 special-teams tackles and six defensive stops.

Meder appeared in all 16 games as a reserve in 2015 and totaled 33 tackles and one sack.

As an undrafted rookie, Mostert appeared in 11 games (seven with Baltimore, three with Cleveland and one with Miami). He logged 19 kickoff returns for 530 yards with a 27.9 average.

Jones appeared in five games with the Saints last season before being acquired by Cleveland via waivers. He appeared in nine games with the Browns and registered three special-teams tackles. Jones has appeared in 43 career games and has logged 26 special-teams tackles.

Pasztor, who was acquired via waivers from Jacksonville, appeared in all 16 games with the Browns with four starts at left guard in 2015. He has appeared in 42 career games with 27 starts (seven at left guard and 20 at right tackle).

Pryor appeared in three games with two starts in 2015. He had one reception for 42 yards. He has appeared in 18 career games with 12 starts.

Solomon notched one tackle in two games before being placed on injured reserve (knee) on Oct. 14. He has appeared in 24 career games and logged 25 tackles and two sacks.
