The Cleveland Indians traveled to the south side of Chicago to face the White Sox for a three-game series after sweeping the Minnesota Twins in three games.
It was a fun game for Tribe fans to watch as Cleveland won its fourth straight game to beat the White Sox 3-0, improving their record to 9-7.
The Tribe got things started in the third inning as Austin Jackson scored on a wild pitch.
Then in the forth, Brandon Guyer launched a two-run homer to left center to extend their lead to 3-0.
But the story of the night was Indians ace Corey Kluber.
Here are the three takeaways from tonight’s game.
3. Kluber = Dynamite
It was Corey Kluber’s night. The former Cy Young winner pitched a complete game, striking out nine and only giving up three hits.
From start to finish, Kluber was able to locate his pitches and was executing his cutter and changeup. He walked two, only allowing five White Sox to reach base on the night. Kluber improves to 2-1 on the season.
2. Brandon Guyer
We only see outfielder Brandon Guyer against left-handed pitchers. The way this game was going, it could’ve ended 1-0 if it wasn’t for Guyer.
In the fourth inning, Guyer hit a two-run homer to left center field to extend the Tribe lead to 3-0.
3. Jason Kipnis returns
Second baseman Jason Kipnis was activated from the 10 days disabled list earlier today and played for the first time this season. Kipnis went 0-3,striking out once in the eighth inning.
However, he did see some good pitches especially his first at-bat despite working the count but ending the at-bat by a pop-up.
