3 Takeaways from WWE Smackdown Live

Three takeaways from tonight’s episode of WWE Smackdown Live jump out at us and we thought it would be fun to break them down for you.  Without any further ado, here you go!

1 – Monkey See, Monkey Do?

WWE Smackdown Live starts off the identical way that WWE Raw did last night, with a talk show segment that blends two storylines into one.  This time it was Kevin Owens doing a masterful job of always getting heat until Shinsuke Nakamura comes down with a nonsensical, unneeded promo that made little to no sense.  Baron Corbin would do his best to save the segment with a beatdown of Nakamura until Sami Zayn rushed the scene.

All this leads to a tag team match, which keeps us remembering why we are excited Nakumura is here.  For everything he isn’t on the microphone, he is and more in the ring.  The guy can absolutely bring it.  This was also a good way to showcase all four of them who will be competing in the MITB match.  They would cap things off later in the night with Styles and Ziggler going one on one in the main event.  Fully showcasing all six men who will do battle for the briefcase.

It can’t be ignored that they started and ended the show with competitors in the MITB storyline. It is clear that the Jinder Mahal vs Randy Orton storyline may be falling flat, and instead of forcing that down everyone’s throat, they appear to be giving these six men the well deserving spotlight.  It is what the fans want headlining the shows, and for once, the WWE creative team seems to be listening!

Breezedango arguably the dumbest gimmick for two future TNA wrestlers. Who is this Shinsuke guy? He looks like a Japanese Michael Jackson in his red leather coat. It almost looks like he is doing the moonwalk when he is making his way to the ring. Not a fan. Not a fan at all. Very odd, to say the least.
