10 Matches That Should Have Been the Main Event at WrestleMania

Daniel Bryan Brock Lesnar

1. Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan – WrestleMania 31

The WWE Universe was still in ‘Yes’ mode when Daniel Bryan came out for the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia two months before WrestleMania 31, and were beyond ticked when their guy was thrown out without much fanfare midway through the match. The winner of that Rumble was Roman Reigns, who went on to face Brock at Mania, only to get swerved when Seth Rollins came down and cashed in his money in the bank contract.

Bryan’s fandom was something the WWE felt it capitalized on the year before, changing their plans and putting him in the main event of WM 30, but the WWE fans were not ready to let the underdog go so fast. He did get the IC belt at Mania 31 in a ladder match, but fans still were ticked they didn’t get to see him and Brock do battle at the main event at Mania 31.

I disagree completely on Hogan vs Flair. Even as a nine year old mark I didn’t want to see that match and loved it when it was changed to Macho Man vs Flair. Also disagree on Triple H vs Cena 2. Absolutely hated Trips back then, so seeing him in another WM title match would have crapped me out. Warrior vs Hogan 2 would have been fun, but then we wouldn’t have gotten the awesome Warrior vs Savage career ending match. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened with Macho though.
